Ways to Celebrate Dad in Manhattan

0

Father’s Day is just around the corner and the Manhattan area has lots of options to celebrate Dad or other important men in your life!

Celebrating with Kids

Backyard Campout or Movie Night

Set up a tent, string lights, roast marshmallows — or turn the backyard into a drive-in with a projector. Choose to camp out or just stay up late. Feeling like more of an adventure than the backyard? Take a weekend camping trip at either Tuttle Creek State Park or Milford State Park for either the day or the weekend!

Father’s Day Brunch and Bowling

Start with brunch at one of our favorite brunch spots and then take your crew over for a few rounds of bowling at one of Manhattan’s local bowling alleys

Pizza and Game Night

Either dine in or carry out pizza from one of the top local pizza places and then spend the night in playing board games as a family. Looking to cut back a bit on the budget? Opt to DIY your own pizza and have a contest to see who can come up with the most creative pizza topping combo!

Nature Hike and Picnic

Take a hike on one of our top family friendly trails around the area and then enjoy a homemade picnic with some of Dad’s favorite treats.

Dinner Out with a Kid Friendly Twist

Enjoy dinner out with the family with dinner and an outdoor family friendly patio area such as Power Cat Sports Grill.

Father’s Day Craft and Interview

Have the kids do a craft or a Dad interview with questions like “What’s Dad best at?” — it’s sweet and makes a great keepsake for Dad to have forever!

KSU Beach Art Museum and Aggieville

Spend the morning touring the KSU Beach Art Museum before you walk over to Aggieville for lunch and to explore some local shopping. Don’t forget to stop at a local Manhattan favorite, Varsity Donuts for yummy treat!

The Zoo

Janelle Cumro-Sultzer
I’m just a normal mom who is trying to figure out how to have it all. Married to my best friend Dylan, we have 3 children, 2 senior dogs, 10 fish and a frog. Our children are 4.5 years, 2.5 year and 8 months who regularly like to do yoga with me and see if I can carry all three of them at the same time while doing squats. I’m originally from Junction City and together with Dylan have lived in New York, Denver, Kansas City and now Manhattan for the long haul. My Bachelor's is in Family Studies & Human Services from Kansas State University and my Master's is in Mediation and Applied Conflict Studies. I spend my free time trying to plan dates with my husband, writing and aggressively applying eye cream.
