At Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead in Overland Park, you can visit more than 250 animals, learn about growing flowers and food, experience Native American Kanza history, visit a one-room schoolhouse and take a stroll through Main Street to the fishing pond.

This children’s farmstead offers the perfect mixture of farm animal fun, history, and a ton of activities. With so much to see and do, Deanna Rose will become an instant must see destination for your crew each season. Use this guide to plan your visit!

Farm Activities

There is so much to do at the farmstead and most attractions are included with admission.

  • Attend a live cow milking demonstration and then give it a try yourself!
  • Take a stroll through the farm and see all the animals and explore the numerous gardens and ponds.
  • Play in the Morgan’s Playground area, Barn Playground, and Prairie Playground.
  • Race around on pedal tractors.
  • Explore Ben’s Bank, Cinemoo Moovie Theater, Helen’s Schoolhouse, Kanza Indian Encampment, John’s Blacksmith Shop, and Ray’s Barbershop.

Additionally, there are some other fun things your crew can do at a low cost. My boys absolutely loved feeding the goats, and baby goat bottles are only $1 each. You can also try fishing with an old-fashioned cane pole for $3. Enjoy a wagon ride for $3 per person for a fun way to get a behind-the-scenes look at the farmstead. Finally, if your children like to collect rocks as much as mine, go mining! Purchase a bag of rocks and sand and take it to sift through in the water. Your children will walk away with some cool rocks to add to their collections.
