If you are like my family, we enjoy hosting for the holidays but don’t always enjoy spending days upon days cooking to make it happen! This year we are trying something new and catering our Thanksgiving meal so we can enjoy the time with our family vs the stress of making sure we follow a cooking schedule.
Manhattan and the surrounding area does not disappoint with the numerous options for Thanksgiving take out and catering available! This is your go-to guide on where to get your pre-made turkey, sides and desserts!
Thanksgiving Take Out and Catering around Manhattan
Main Meal
Arrow Coffee
While the official menu options will be posted soon, Arrow Coffee will be offering Thanksgiving options as well this year! In the past, they have had numerous options from the main meal to choose from including sides and sweets and treats!
Bockers Catering
With more than 50 years of experience, you cannot go wrong with Bockers Catering! Featuring a traditional menu of roasted turkey with stuffing, baked ham with cherry glaze, escalloped potatoes, honey glazed baby carrots, tossed salad w/ cucumbers, tomatoes, ranch and Dorthy Lynch dressings and homemade rolls with butter. You have the option to swap out one of the entrees for an apple smoked pork loin, BBQ brisket or a roast sirloin of beef with demi glaze for an additional cost. Orders must be received by November 20 by noon and Orders must be picked up by November 27 by 3 p.m.
Cox Brothers BBQ
Always a fan favorite, Cox Brothers BBQ will be offering options including whole smoked turkeys and gravy as well as additional sides of mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, smokehouse beans, mac ‘n’ jack and potato salad. All pick ups are cold unless requested. Orders must be placed by November 24 at 5 p.m. and picked up by November 27 by 7 p.m.
Cracker Barrel
Located just west of Manhattan in Junction City, Cracker Barrel offers several different heat and serve meal options. The main entree options include turkey, ham or prime rib as well as sides to include sweet potato casserole, green beans, mashed potatoes, macaroni n’ cheese and several roll options. Dessert options include pumpkin pie, pecan pie, chocolate pecan pie, apple streusel pie, cinnamon roll pie and french toast bake. With no specific order cut off date, orders can be placed directly online for pick up or delivery.
HyVee
Looking for a one-stop option for all of your Thanksgiving week needs? Take a look at HyVee’s catering options including options from brunch, desserts, fruit and veggie trays as well as the big meal. Choose from their pre-selected meals or create your own options.
Moe’s BBQ
Moe’s BBQ is offering traditional smoke turkeys, smoked turkey breast and spiral hams! Their sides will include cornbread dressing, sweet potato casserole, green beans and collard greens. Orders are due by November 23 and pick up is on November 28.
Ogden’s Backyard Barbecue
Looking for a deep fried turkey without all of the stress? Take a look at Ogden’s Backyard Barbecue for a local option! Orders must be placed by 7 p.m. on November 21.
One Egg Group culinary team is behind some of Manhattan’s favorite local dining locations including Bourbon & Baker, Tallgrass Tap House and Guilty Biscuit. While no specific Thanksgiving menu or information has been released at this time, it is worth checking their site for updates.
While you can get all of your Picalilli Farm favorites at the weekly Manhattan Farmer’s Market the weekend prior to Thanksgiving, Picalilli Farm will be offering Bronze Breasted Turkeys this year as well a wide menu of salads, appetizers, sides and desserts! They have been fed a non-gmo feed ration free-choice and enjoyed pecking at everything, hunting bugs, grazing (truly!), eating microgreens and drinking goat milk. Turkeys will be fully frozen and available for on-farm pick up or delivery on November 19.
Schatzi Schnitzel Haus
Located just north of Manhattan in Riley, Schatzi Schnitzel Haus offers a full German catering service. While no specific Thanksgiving menu has been released yet, your family might enjoy a German themed Thanksgiving dinner this year!
Smokin Willie’s
Based out of Wamego, Smoking Willie’s will be offering sliced Turkey and Ham and all of their regular sides which include baked beans, cheesy potatoes, mac & cheese, coleslaw and potato salad as well as their normal meats including pork, chicken and brisket. Order are due by November 20.
The DoughBro
The DoughBro will be offering a full meal options including sides and dessert options with a limited number of orders on a first come, first serve basis. Their exact menu has not been announced yet but should be released soon. With no order cut-off date yet, they anticipate the cut-off date to be set one week prior of Thanksgiving, on November 21. Thinking of more than just Thanksgiving Day? Order some of their famously delicious cinnamon rolls to serve either the morning of Thanksgiving or even the next day when breakfast feels a tiny bit lazy anyways!
Desserts
Simply Sweet Bakery
Located in Alma, Simply Sweet Bakery is a local favorite! The owner has filmed a cooking show called Made From Scratch and is currently in The Greatest Baker presented by Bobby Valastro. Simply Sweet Bakery will be offering their usual cakes, cupcakes, & cookies along with specialty pies and pumpkin rolls. Orders will be due by November 22.
The Messy Apron MHK
Needing a few other treats to round out your Thanksgiving meal? Check out The Messy Apron MHK which has a Fall menu featuring cinnamon rolls, pumpkin rolls, dinner rolls and an assortment of cookies. Other items are available upon request!
TheraPie
For all of your Thanksgiving desserts, check out TheraPie! Featured pies include Caramel Apple Crumble with Pecans, Cherry, Grandma’s Apple, Pecan, Pumpkin, Pumpkin Swirl Cheesecake, Salted Caramel Chocolate Pecan, Tiny Pie Variety Box which includes tiny pies of each Pumpkin, Pumpkin Swirl Cheesecake and Salted Caramel Chocolate Pecan or Cherry, Grandma’s Apple and Caramel Apple Pecan.
