Football season is upon us, and we are ready for another fun season with the Kansas City Chiefs. We recently took our boys to their first Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium and had the best time! If you’re thinking about taking your crew to a game, use this guide for some helpful tips.

Before the Game
Tickets
You can get tickets on the official Chiefs website or through secondary market ticket vendors (e.g., Ticketmaster, SeatGeek). Ticket prices will vary based on who the Chiefs play and whether you’re sitting the upper, club or lower bowl sections of the stadium. Ticket prices may go down as the game approaches or if the Chiefs or if their opponents play poorly, so keep an eye out to save some money. Another important note is that children under 3 years old do not need a ticket but must sit with an adult.
Research seat locations for shade, as the west sideline tends to be shadier. Don’t forget to try to plan for the weather. We picked an early fall game, hoping to take advantage of some cooler weather and it worked out well for us.
Put on your red
Make sure to grab your game day attire before the game! Of course the team store, in the stadium, is an option, but it may be worthwhile to check out these local places for some more cost-effective attire first.

Arrive early
Plan to arrive early, and ensure you have plenty of time to figure out parking and walk to the stadium. We have had success finding parking in lots across from the stadium (note: you’ll have to cross busy roads to get to the official parking area if you park off property). It also seemed to be the most affordable option. No matter where you park, get ready to WALK. Fortunately, we had Dad and Grandpa to help carry my younger two when their feet got tired.
Celebrate game day with your fellow Chiefs fans at the Ford Tailgate District located directly outside of the Hy-Vee Gate (west end of Lot M). Open four hours prior to kickoff each game, the Ford Tailgate District is FREE to enter and offers fun for all ages including live music, tailgating games, food trucks, giveaways, and more! Gates open two hours before game time, allowing you to explore the interactive Hall of Fame on the lower level before crowds become too large.
Eat before you go
Stadium food can get expensive (especially for my family of five!) and can be a bit limited. Since outside food is not allowed in the stadium, we like to make sure to eat a meal before the game. I also always pack snacks, water, and other beverages to keep in the car for after the game as well. Do take advantage that you can bring one factory-sealed 20-ounce water bottle per guest!
At the game

Bag policy
Arrowhead Stadium enforces a clear bag policy. Make sure to read about permissible bags and items here.
Strollers
Strollers are permitted in GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium IF a ticket has been purchased for the child; keep this in mind if you have a lap child. Stroller must be collapsible and fit under seating area (large strollers are prohibited in GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium).
ID bracelets
Visit a “Fans First Booth” to get a free ID bracelet for your child that contains key information to help reconnect children and their parents should they become lost.
Baby changing stations
All family Rrestrooms have changing stations and are located on each level of GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Changing stations are also located in many of the women’s and men’s restrooms.
Sensory kits
Sensory kits are available during all major stadium events to help guests self-regulate and reduce the impact of sensory stimuli. Guests may visit Fans First 131, 318, 341, or the GEHA Concierge desk to check out a kit, free of charge.
If feeling overwhelmed and your kiddo needs a quiet space, two sensory rooms are located just inside Gate G on the Plaza Level. These rooms create a safe place and calming environment so kids can regulate and decompress.
Bring headphones
The stadium is very loud; bring hearing protection for your children to make the experience more comfortable.
Have fun
Remember to have fun! Explain expectations to your crew and be flexible. Navigating a Chiefs game can get hectic and stressful for everyone so try to be patient and enjoy your time together. And don’t forget to take lots of pictures so you can look back and remember your time cheering on The Chiefs!

Mom Tip
Sign your child up for Chiefs Kingdom Kids for FREE and receive a Chiefs poster as a welcome gift. Chiefs Kingdom Kids is available for any child under the age of 12, and members will get year-round information about all the youth-related activities.
