Local Mother’s Day Gifts for Manhattan Moms

Once I realized the key for an amazing Mother’s Day starts with me knowing and communicating exactly what I want and need on this day, Mother’s Day became one of my favorite holidays! Everyone’s special day will look a little different of course, so take some time now to figure out exactly what you want, so you can let your better half know now!

Need some help deciding what you want or maybe that special other person in your life needs help with their planning, this guide will help you have the best Mother’s Day yet!

Plan ahead.

First decide what you want to do. This is the day you get to choose. What does your day look like? Maybe you want a large, grandparents included, family gathering or maybe a brunch out with just your hubby and your tiny humans. Decide and talk about this upfront.

Make your reservations now.

Events fill up quickly, especially on a holiday.

Be upfront about gifts.

Maybe you have your eye on a new bag or want to go get a massage — make these suggestions ahead of time. I always want my husband to help our kids make me something, along with an afternoon nap. If I have a gift in mind, I make it easy on my husband and send him a link.

Local Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Flower Shops

You simply cannot go wrong with flowers on Mother’s Day! Pick your own from your garden or order some from one of these favorite local stores.

Acme Gifts offers both pre-designed arrangements as well as the options to build your own bouquet in store! While you are already shopping for flowers, take a look at their featured gift boxes. I have my eye on the Self Care Gift Box this year!

Another favorite, locally owned flower shop is Kistner’s Flowers! They have been in business for over 70 years and always stay on top of the flower game! When you select the occasion for the flowers, they give you the options to decide on the color palette, such as bright and bold or soft pastels. In addition to the colors, you can also choose the style of the bouquet including traditional, artistic, romantic, naturalist or high style.

Steve’s Floral is another great option! Check out one of my personal favorite floral designs, called the Tip Toe, which is a giant bouquet made up of tulips.

Janelle Cumro-Sultzer
I’m just a normal mom who is trying to figure out how to have it all. Married to my best friend Dylan, we have 3 children, 2 senior dogs, 10 fish and a frog. Our children are 4.5 years, 2.5 year and 8 months who regularly like to do yoga with me and see if I can carry all three of them at the same time while doing squats. I’m originally from Junction City and together with Dylan have lived in New York, Denver, Kansas City and now Manhattan for the long haul. My Bachelor's is in Family Studies & Human Services from Kansas State University and my Master's is in Mediation and Applied Conflict Studies. I spend my free time trying to plan dates with my husband, writing and aggressively applying eye cream.
