Need an excuse to get more use out of that Halloween costume? There are plenty of opportunities to celebrate spooky season as a whole family. Check out these family friendly Halloween events in Manhattan and the surrounding area.

Celebrations Haunted Opera House

Be sure to visit the historic Wamego Opera house, opening Sept. 28, and discover some new ghoulish friends.  Located at 901 5th Street and is open every Saturday through October. More information and frightening details here.

October 1

Halloween Scavenger Hunt

October 1-31
Manhattan Town Center

Located all nine Halloween themed gnomes in the windows of mall businesses! Pick up a worksheet at King’s Candy Shop and turn it back in for a special prize! The hunt starts on October 1st and runs through October 31st!

October 11

Hocus Pocus at the Wareham

7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 11

Get ready for a magical evening of witchcraft, mayhem, and laughs as we bring the Sanderson sisters back to life at Wareham Hall! It’s time to dust off your broomsticks, light the Black Flame Candle, and relive the Halloween classic that has enchanted audiences for decades. Expect plenty of tricks, treats, and iconic moments as we follow three kids (and a talking cat!) battling to stop the witches from wreaking havoc on Salem. Grab your ticket and join us for a night of 90s nostalgia, spellbinding fun, and a little Halloween magic.

October 12

Pumpkin PaZOOla at Rolling Hills Zoo

All day, Saturday, Oct. 12

Half price admission for kids 12 and under with each adult admission, free pumpkin for kids at Pumpkin PaZOOla! Other activities include a treat station, pumpkin patch, games and activities, animal meet and greets, and more! Rolling Hills will also be celebrating its 25th anniversary!

Pumpkin Patch Arts and Crafts Fair

9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Saturday Oct. 12, 
Downtown Manhattan, Manhattan Town Center

Join the women of the Alpha Eta Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi as they host the 50th Annual Pumpkin Patch Arts and Crafts Fair. This year’s fair will be located on Poyntz Avenue in Downtown Manhattan and inside the Manhattan Town Center. Vendors will feature a variety of handmade, homemade, and refurbished goods and artistry.

Spooky Safari at Sunset Zoo

6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15

Sunset Zoo

A collaboration between the Riley County Historical Museum for a guided tour of Sunset Cemetery and Sunset Zoo’s education team for a flashlight tour through the Zoo is happening on October 15 & 16 for $12/person. Even though this tour is for all ages, it will be SpOoKy!

October 18

Monster Mash Dance Party

10-10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 18

Manhattan Pubic Library

It’s time for a monstrous and silly dance party! A librarian will play fun dance music and read some stories for ages 2-8. A parent/guardian must attend with their child. Children may dress in a costume if they wish.

October 19

Trunk or Treat at Evolution Training Center

5-7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19

If you love games, prizes, trunk decorating contest, and sweet treats this trunk or treat is for you! The event is completely free to the public but registration is required. Save your child’s spot here.

Fall Fest by The Pentecostals of Manhattan

2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19
Manhattan City Park

Fall is the time for family fun! Mark your calendar and plan to attend the POM Church Fall Fest. We’ll be at the Manhattan City Park on October 19 at 2 p.m.! Trunk or treat, costume contest, sack races, food trucks, family photo booth, face painting, prayer booth, yard games, tug-of-war and gift basket raffle. RSVP here.

Trunk or Treat at Manhattan Baptist Church

Everything starts with music, a message from the Bible, free hotdogs, and lots of candy! All are welcome from the community!

October 23

Annual Halloween Party at Radiant Med Spa

4 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 23
Radiant Med Spa

Join us for a wicked good time at Radiant Med Spa in Manhattan. Over $10K in giveaways and special treats. You are welcome to bring the kiddos, as it is a family friendly event with plenty of snacks and drinks!

October 24

All Treats Day

5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 24
Downtown Junction City

Children of all ages and their parents are welcome to wear a costume and march behind the JCHS Marching Band as they lead the parade down Washington from 10th to 6th Streets. After the parade, kids can trick or treat at businesses set up along the parade route. Games, treats and more at the 12th Street Community Center from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Get more details.

October 25

Teen Halloween Party

5:30 -7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25

Join us for a Teen Halloween party! We will have a costume contest, along with some games and a craft. Treats will also be available! Please include any food allergens in the registration notes. Come hang out for a frighteningly good time! Registration required.

4-6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25 (reserved for high risk and special populations)

Wear your costumes – adults and kids! Have fun and be creative. Spooktacular would not be Spooktacular without CANDY. We will have local businesses and organizations handing out candy throughout the zoo! So join us for family-friendly Halloween-themed activities, candy, a decorated zoo, entertainment, food, and so much more! 

Trick or Treat in the ‘Ville

3 p.m. – 5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25
Aggieville

Bring your family and friends down to Aggieville’s annual Trick or Treat in the ‘Ville! Participating businesses will be handing out candy to all who come. So get dressed up in your favorite costume and come have some fun!

Trunk or Treat in Wamego

11 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26

Come join Wamego PD, EMS and fire department for some candy and demonstrations!

October 27

Trunk or Treat at First Christian Church

4-6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 27
First Christian Church

Join us for a safe and fun Halloween event. You can participate by trick-or-treating, or by decorating your vehicle.

Girl Scout Trunk-or-Treat

2-3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 27

Decorate a trunk with your troop (or your family) and come have some Halloween fun! Feel free to dress up, decorate your trunk, have candy, a swap, and/or a game for the girls. Please note the event is moved to the Girl Scout Little House parking lot this year, participating cars should park on the south side (closest to the house). House will be open for restrooms and a warming zone if needed. All registered Girl Scouts and their siblings/parents are welcome to participate! 

October 31

All Treats Day

4-6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 31
Downtown Manhattan

Families are invited to stroll down Poyntz Avenue, where kids can safely trick-or-treat at participating neighborhood businesses. Come in costume and enjoy a fun, family-friendly Halloween experience in the heart of our community!
