Fall and Winter Date Ideas in Manhattan

Outside Date Ideas in Manhattan

  • Take in the best views as you cruise down the 7-line tour ziplines at Wildwood Adventure Park! Make this adventure date into a double date to enjoy all of the fresh views with your favorite people.
  • On the northeast side of town, check out High Horse Stables for some 1:1 lessons with your favorite stud. Lesson do need to be booked in advance.
  • Enjoy a date at Parkside Station where you can dine outside or head inside when the weather gets too cold. You can also play games while you wait for your food and listen to live music before you head over to walk around City Park to take in all of the beautiful Fall Colors or the first few snow flakes of the season!
  • Take a twist on dinner and a movie and instead enjoy a relaxing, private fire pit in the woods at Rohling Homestead! Book in advance because this little hidden gem will book up fast!
  • Experience the beauty of the Flint Hills with a visit to the Konza Prairie Biological Station. Grab your hiking gear and bring along a picnic. While this is a summer spot to visit, the fall and winter colors are worth making the trip during the off season.
  • While most of us think of checking out the giant Christmas Tree at Blue Earth Plaza as a family, spend a night there with your significant other! It is so different to see the lights as an adult and the hard work it takes to make the magic happen!
  • Check out the Bluemont Scenic Overlook for a local Manhattan favorite date. Bundle up, pack a picnic or some snacks and enjoy the time in nature when the weather is cooler.
  • Leave the kids at home, and go visit a local Corn Maze. While kids love corn mazes, it can be more fun to run around acting like a kid with your favorite person instead!

Inside Date Ideas in Manhattan

  • Check out the new exhibits at the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art. While there is a standing exhibit, it is fun to go see the new show when it comes out. Make it into a day date and grab donuts before at Varsity Donuts or make it into an evening with dinner at Nico’s Little Italy.
  • See what is new at SNW Gallery and perhaps meet one of the featured artists at one of their evening events! Grab dinner along Poyntz to make the most of the night!
  • Enjoy a quiet night 1:1 wine tasting or enjoy a louder, laugh out loud, comedy show with a group or everything in between, at Liquid Art Winery. Take a look at the events page to make plans in advance.
  • Spend several hours inside of Goolsby’s bowling, golfing and trying out their tap wall. This is the perfect indoor spot to have some fun when the weather is cold.
  • Explore The Museum of Art and Light with your better half! While the museum is open to children, this might be a better option to visit while the kids stay home so you can actually stop and enjoy the artwork! Make it an evening and grab dinner on Poyntz, which is within walking distance!
  • Work together with your partner to get out of an escape room at Locked. Invite some friends and make it a group date to remember.
  • Check out the Manhattan Arts Center, which locals refer to as the MAC. Sign up for a class, check out the latest art exhibit or go see a live show. There are options for everyone to enjoy at the MAC.
  • Enjoy some paint and sip at Uncorked Inspiration. Plan ahead since their events will get booked up quickly, especially around the holidays.
  • Let out the week’s stress together at either Axe to Grind or ManHatchet where you can safely throw axes at a set target.

I’m deeply passionate about the Manhattan community and surrounding areas, and I love helping people find their own little village. These days, you can usually find me homeschooling full-time, attending local community events with my family, cheering loudly as a sports and dance mom, taking little trips around the area, trying to plan date nights with my husband, sipping coffee and pretending I’m well-rested, and of course… always writing.
