Rise and dine; it’s brunch time! Check out this guide for some of our favorite restaurants for brunch with kids in the Manhattan area.

Best Brunch in and around Manhattan

Bluestem Bistro

1219 Moro Street, Manhattan, KS 66502
Hours: Monday- Saturday 7 a.m.-7 p.m., Sunday 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
Sunday brunch: 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

A go to spot for students and locals since 1994, Bluestem Bistro and their Sunday brunch will definitely hit the spot. Try their quiche or breakfast burritos. They have specialty lattes for the adults and some delicious pastries for the kids. I’d definitely recommend their cinnamon rolls. When you’re done, take your crew to check out Aggieville! Our favorite combination after Bluestem is to go to the Dusty Bookshelf and then grab a Varsity Donut!

The Chef

111 S 4th Street, Manhattan KS 66502
Hours: Monday- Friday 6 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 7 a.m.- 3 p.m.

A downtown Manhattan local favorite since 1943, The Chef “is still packing in the hungry” all week long so no need to wait for the weekend! From the classic breakfast, fun bennies, tasty omelets, and a variety of frittatas, you won’t be leaving hungry. Add on some PB&J pancakes (yes, these are technically on the for the kiddos menu), and you just made my morning! My children love ordering the Cake It Up bacon/pancake combo! Do note that if you go on a weekend, it tends to get quite busy so plan to get there early.

Early Edition

3210 Kimball Ave, Manhattan KS 66503
600 S 4th Street, Manhattan KS 66502
Hours: Tuesday- Sunday 7 a.m.- 2 p.m.

A big favorite in our household is Early Edition. “Serving you the best sizzle in town,” my boys eat their weight in eggs, bacon, and potatoes every time! I suggest trying one of their yummy savory skillets or omelets. Breakfast isn’t complete without pancakes! The pancakes here are huge, fluffy and delicious. AND a pancake (with topping) can be substituted for toast on the entrees. What a fun way to have your (pan)cake and eat it too!

El Patron

429 Poyntz Ave, Manhattan KS 66502
Hours: Monday-Saturday 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m.- 9 p.m.

A Mexican restaurant for brunch? Yes, I’m going there because we are just such big fans of El Patron! If you like breakfast tacos, quesadillas, and burritos, this brunch spot is for you! This mama sure does love their huevos rancheros and chilaquiles! And no matter what time it is, we will munch on all the chips and salsa!

Friendship House

507 Ash Street, Wamego KS 66547
Hours: Monday- Saturday 6:30 a.m.- 3 p.m., Sunday 8 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Head to Wamego and Follow the Yellow Brick Road to the Friendship House! Breakfast is served all day on Sundays and brunch starts at 11 a.m. But stop in any day of the week for some “delicious home cooking just like grandma makes.” We love the breakfast bierocks and all of the pastry options (definitely try a peanut butter roll!). Do note that Friendship House typically has some super yummy monthly specials that rotate. After breakfast, let your crew run around Wamego City Park and check out The Oz Museum!

Kite’s Bar & Grill

Address: 615 N 12th Street, Manhattan KS 66502
Hours: Tuesday- Thursday 4 p.m.- midnight, Friday/Saturday 11 a.m.- 2 a.m., Sunday 10 a.m.- midnight.

Rise and shine for some Sunday brunch at Kites! Although a favorite for late night eats, their brunch menu packs in the flavor. Treat yourself to some waffles while you’re here! Indulge with the Bourbon Street Waffles and enjoy praline bacon, bananas, whipped cream, and warm syrup. Or go with chicken and waffles, this mama’s favorite, with their hot honey syrup. Make sure to check out their selection of fun brunch cocktails.

Parkside Station

Address: 1026 Poyntz Ave, Manhattan, KS 66502
Hours: Monday/Wednesday/Thursday/Friday 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Saturday 4 p.m.-10 p.m., Weekend brunch Saturday/Sunday 7 a.m.-3 p.m.

Pastry and coffee counter is open Monday- Sunday 7 a.m.-3 p.m.

Consider supporting a local small business and enjoy a weekend brunch at Parkside Station! Do note, the parking is tight and brunch can get crowded. The bakery items are baked fresh daily next door at Little Batch Co. For brunch, you can’t ever go wrong with a Parkside Burger or BBQ Brisket Sandwich. With local beef from Haner Ranch and homemade Little Batch bread, these sandwiches are always fantastic! If you want something a little lighter, opt for a Spring Veggie Benedict. Add on a couple of kid breakfast plates and some delicious fresh bagels (and a cookie for the toddler), and I have a happy set of boys! This is also right across the street from City Park, which can make for a fun eat and play combo!

Radina’s Bakehouse

227 Blue Earth Pl #111, Manhattan, KS 66502
Hours: Monday-Friday 6:30 a.m.- 6 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m.-5 p.m., Sunday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Radina’s has several locations around town but our favorite is Radina’s Bakehouse. Not only are the coffee drinks yummy, but the menu features everything from delicious cinnamon rolls to savory scones to out of this world roasted red pepper soup. Be sure to check their website since each location has its own menu items. I love that they donate a loaf of bread to the Flint Hills Breadbasket for every loaf they sell! And for a special treat, the bakehouse offers a milk and cookies flight. How fun! Their favorites were strawberry milk and smores milk. While my boys enjoyed their milk flight, my husband and I enjoyed an espresso drink flight. Walk on over to The Flint Hills Discovery Center afterward for some added fun!

Rockin K’s

1880 Kimball Ave #100, Manhattan KS 66502
Hours: Monday-Thursday 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., Friday/Saturday 11 a.m. – 11 p.m., Sunday bunch 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

If you haven’t been to Rockin K’s for Sunday brunch, you’re missing out! Craving something sweet? The stuffed French toast is sure to satisfy that sweet tooth. Add a side of bacon or sausage and you’re set! Wanting something savory and a little adventurous? Try their O-Lineman, a warm jalapeno scone filled with chicken, bacon, and cheese. Yum! Or are you looking for something that’s light and fresh? Try the Good Morning Bowl, which includes yogurt, quinoa, peanut butter, local honey, and fruit. With their diverse menu, you’re sure to please every eater in your family.

Wine Dive

Address: 121 S 4th Street, Manhattan, KS 66502
Hours: Monday-Thursday 4 p.m. – 9 p.m., Friday 4 p.m.-10 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; 4 p.m.-10 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.; 4 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Looking for a place that’s a bit on the nicer side? Check out Wine Dive for weekend brunch! I definitely recommend arriving right when they open to avoid a crowd. Order some small plates to share like the quiche or Scottish eggs, along with some big plates or sandwiches. The stuffed French toast is amazing! Radina’s challah is stuffed with strawberry cream cheese. So good! My kids will typically get the country breakfast (eggs, potatoes, bacon, and sausage) and my favorite is the veggie frittata. You also can’t go wrong with the fried egg sandwich or brunch burger. Add a mimosa carafe along with $5 refills for the ultimate brunch experience.
