Calling kid inventors! The Flint Hills Discovery Center’s new exhibit features the works of Thomas Edison. Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab will run January 20 – May 5. The exhibit features hands-on experiences based in science, technology, engineering and math.

Featured experiences

  • Experiment with electricity, magnetism, optics, sound waves and air pressure, and the fun physics laws that shape the world around us.
  • Manipulate the classic six simple machines designed to make our work easier – the lever, inclined plane, pulley, screw, wedge, and wheel and axle.
  • Learn basic coding with a fun introduction to no-tech, low-tech and high-tech ways to use technology as a tool.
  • Investigate materials science, how we use natural and human-made substances and learn more about their properties.
  • Fire an air cannon, climb through a virtual reality portal tunnel, touch a plasma ball, and so much more.

“The exhibit does an amazing job of showing kids just how a few creative individuals, like Thomas Edison, can completely change how we live our lives.” said Stephen Bridenstine, FHDC Assistant Director, “By making science learning a fun hands-on experience, Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab will inspire the next generation of innovators who will shape our very future.”
