Mom’s Guide to the Rolling Hills Zoo

The Rolling Hills Zoo in Salina is a perfect adventure for any animal-loving family. Set on 65 acres, the zoo features more than 110 animal species, accessed best on a narrated tram ride. You won’t want to miss the impressive Wildlife Museum inside the zoo grounds.

Hours

Open seven days a week, except for Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Hours are  9 a.m. – 5 p.m. March to November and 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. during the winter months.

Tickets

Adults: $15,
Children 3-12: $9 (2 and under free)

Tickets include both admissions to the zoo and the museum. Be sure to take advantage of the Sunflower Summer App and tour the zoo for FREE during the summer. Sunset Zoo members receive 50 percent off of daily tickets!

Food and Drink

Rolling Hills offers a restaurant las well as additional snack options located throughout the zoo. Outside food and drinks are allowed with multiple picnic areas to sit-down to eat.

Accessibility

Rolling Hills Zoo is KultureCity® Sensory Inclusive™ Certified. Rolling Hills Zoo is inclusive of ALL people with sensory needs and KultureCity Sensory Bags are available for guests with sensory needs to use for free during their visit.

Tram Rides

For an additional fee and unique zoo experience, take advantage off the trams, which run daily during the summer.

Special Programs

  • Toddler Tuesday is the first Tuesday of every month and every Tuesday during both June and July. This option is geared towards children 5 and younger and features a story time, a craft and a playtime!
  • Zoo Palooza is a program designed for groups up to 20 people and features a 30-minute program, a 30-minute Animal Meet & Greet and a 15-minute Keeper Encounter or animal training session.
  • Twilight Safari Adventures are offering on a Friday or Saturday from 5:30pm – 8:30pm with 15-20 guests. This adventure offers a guided evening Wildlife Museum and Zoo tour, an Ambassador Animal Encounter and Hot dogs with chips & s’mores to roast over a propane fire pit.
  • Group Overnight Expeditions includes a museum and zoo tour, bedtime snack and breakfast, indoor sleeping, crafts, sunrise tram ride and admission to the zoo the next morning!

  • The Wildlife Museum is a great option for cooling off on a hot summer day.
  • Don’t miss the petting zoo in Kid’s Country with goats, sheep, llamas, and chickens.
