Mom’s Guide to K-State Basketball Games with Kids

Looking for a family fun activity this winter? K-State basketball games (both men’s and women’s) at Bramlage Coliseum are a fun activity for the whole family. Here is everything you need to know to make it a successful day.

Mom’s Guide to Taking Kids to K-State Basketball Games

Both the K-State Men’s and Women’s basketball teams tip-off the season at the end of October, and the season goes through the end of February. Fans have helped make Bramlage Coliseum (also known as “The Octagon of Doom” due to the eight-sided shape of the building) one of the most intimidating and exciting environments in all of college basketball. Use this guide to plan your ultimate basketball experience.

Parking at K-State Basketball Games

Game-day general admission parking is available for purchase in advance. For men’s basketball, general admission parking is available in lots E1, E3, and the west lot and costs $12 when purchased in advance. General admission parking purchased at the gates for men’s basketball costs $15. General admission parking for women’s basketball costs $10 when purchased online in advance and is $12 at the gate.

Tickets

Guests that are two and older need a ticket. Gates open one hour prior to tip off. If your kiddo is a Junior Wildcat Club member, they get in FREE to all women’s basketball games!

Clear Bag Policy

Bramlage Coliseum follows the Clear Bag Policy. If your family needs an item for medical or child care purposes such as a pump bag, they are allowed in the stadium, but they must be in a clear bag. Official K-State team logo clear plastic tote bags are available through Rally House.

Concessions

Although I have been able to bring in snacks and a sippy cup for my toddler, outside food and drinks are not allowed in the arena. Concessions are available on the concourse when the Coliseum doors open. K-State Athletics uses cashless payment systems so plan accordingly if paying for parking and concessions. Water fountains are located throughout the concourses behind Sections 4, 8, 18, and 21. You can bring your own water or Gatorade (sealed bottles only)

Nursing Mother’s Room

A nursing mothers’ area is available in the First Aid room on the west side of the concourse behind Section 3. Breast pumps and supplies are permitted if they are carried in a clear bag or a dedicated bag specifically for the pump. The bag will still need to be searched, and it will be tagged as a medical bag. Plastic baby bottles are permitted if the infant is with the guest.

Lost and found

Leave something behind? No problem! Lost items can be claimed or turned in at the Athletics Operations offices on the second level of the Shamrock Zone. Call 785-532-7600 with any questions.

Mom Tips for K-State Basketball Games

  • Check out the Kings candy shop pop up near section 11 for some freeze dried candy and cotton candy
  • If you sit in general admission, you can find seats that aren’t too crowded and find an open aisle seat so toddlers can get up and walk around without disturbing a whole row.
  • Want to appear on the big screen? K-State gear and a sign will help you catch the eye of a camera person if you want on the big screen. Don’t be afraid to be loud and dance!
  • Keep your eyes open for Gap Goat! This fun goat helps cheer on the Wildcats Defense. At some home games, whenever the Wildcats get a gap (3 defensive blocks), cheerleaders throw miniature stuffed goats to the crowd. T-shirts are also thrown throughout the game!
  • Willie tends to stick to the GA area, and will come into the crowd. The cheerleaders and Classy Cats will happily take photos at the sidelines or bottom of the stands between periods.

Tips for Women’s Games

  • After the game, the women will typically loop the court and give people high fives.
  • The women’s team will sometimes do autographs in the stands for fans that stick around. If you have a favorite player, keep your eye on her and watch which direction she’s headed while the crowd leaves. Instead of sitting in the parking lot crowd, you can meet the team!
