SkyFest Marysville features hot air balloons, live music, an airplane fly in, food trucks and a majestic fireworks display Saturday, July 13, at Lakeview Sports Complex, and Sunday, July 14, at Marysville Municipal Airport.
SATURDAY at Lakeview Sports Complex, 502 20th Street
Saturday’s festivities start at 4 p.m. with kids’ activities – a mobile exhibit from the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center, bounce houses and lawn games.
A variety of foods will be for sale at food trucks. Barbecue, hamburgers, smoked chicken tacos, sandwiches and pork tenderloins are some of the main dishes to be served. Cotton candy, snow canes, ice cream and candy will be for sale, too. The concession stand will be open selling concession foods.
The music starts at 4 p.m. with Elliott Burns, a rising star in the country music scene, bringing a fresh, youthful energy to the genre.
Currently a student at Kansas State University, he skillfully balances his academic pursuits with his passion for music. His distinctive voice and genuine, heartfelt lyrics reflect the spirit of the Midwest, resonating with fans from all walks of life. He will perform until 6 p.m.
At 6:30 p.m., Logan Mize takes the stage to perform a two-hour concert.
Before the fireworks display, there will be a stimulating fire show with fire spinning, fire juggling, fire breathing and more!
At 10 p.m., the sky will burst with a 20-minute fireworks display choreographed to music. The display is put together by Rainbow Fireworks, Inman, Kan.
SUNDAY at Marysville Municipal Airport, 2500 North Street
Prepare to be mesmerized as five majestic hot air balloons ascend into the dawn sky at 6 a.m., painting the horizon with vibrant colors and a sense of wonder. This breathtaking spectacle promises to captivate the early risers, offering an unforgettable experience as the balloons gracefully lift off, soaring high above the landscape.
At 7 a.m., join us for a delightful pancake breakfast prepared by the dedicated members of the Kiwanis Club! This event promises a warm, welcoming atmosphere filled with the mouthwatering aroma of freshly made pancakes sizzling on the griddle. The Kiwanis Club, known for its commitment to community service, ensures that every bite is served with a smile.
The morning includes an airplane fly-in, happening until 11 a.m.! There will be a stunning array of aircraft, all gathering in one place to celebrate the thrill of aviation. Enthusiasts and spectators alike will be captivated by the sight and sound of these magnificent machines as they take to the skies.
