Use this guide and check out some of the best burgers in and around The Little Apple!

Best Burgers In and Around Manhattan

Ana’s Burger Shack

Ana’s Burger Shack is serving up some of the tastiest and juiciest burgers you’ll find in Manhattan. They use Hanner Ranch beef from Onaga to cook up their juicy, delicious burgers. They offer a wide variety of toppings, and plenty of non-burger options as well, making it a great place to feed your entire crew! Make sure you add fries and a shake for the ultimate Ana’s experience. Do note that Ana’s is closed on Sundays, and there’s only limited seating, outdoors only. A good option is to grab your food and drive about a mile away to Manhattan Hill. It is a great place to have a picnic and enjoy the view, if the weather is nice!

Hillside Cafe

A Mexican restaurant for a burger? Yes, you heard that right! Hillside Cafe is one of Manhattan’s oldest restaurants and is a hidden gem for a good burger. The burgers are big and juicy- you can’t go wrong with any of the choices, but my favorite is definitely the mushroom swiss burger. Add some tacos, and chips and salsa with your order, and you’ve got yourself a super fun meal that’s sure to satisfy all your cravings.

Kite’s Bar and Grill

Have some K-State fans in your crew? Then head over to Kites and enjoy a tasty burger while cheering on the wildcats! Kite’s is named after legendary Kansas State basketball-baseball player Keith “Kite”  Thomas. The current owner continues the tradition of this historic space by serving great food and drinks, and providing a location where friends and family can gather; this is an especially fun and energetic location to go when there is a K-State game happening.

Kreem Cup

After playing at Wamego City Park, my boys are always hungry, and they most likely are asking if we can go to Kreem Cup! Kreem Cup first opened its doors in 1952, and it is a favorite destination for those looking for a good meal at lunch and dinner time. They offer 25 different sandwiches and lots of burger options. Try one of their specialties, like the Texas Burger. And you have to add on an ice cream that is locally sourced from Nebraska and Wichita dairies. The brownie-infused cyclones are our favorite!

Moe’s Original BBQ

Our favorite barbeque spot has recently updated its menu and is now regularly serving up a tasty burger on their regular menu! What started as a weekly special became a fan favorite and has since become an everyday staple. Juicy burgers cooked to perfection along with their yummy fries always hits the spot for my boys. Add on some of their award-winning smoked wings and any of their other delicious BBQ items, and you’re in for a real treat. Check their menu on their Facebook page as it changes daily to see the specials and sides being offered that day. Days where they have Sweet Potato JoJos and/or Fried Green Tomatoes on their daily sides menu would be a great day to try out a Moe’s burger!

Parkside Station

Take your crew to play and work up an appetite at City Park, before heading across the street to Parkside Station. Their tasty burgers use locally sourced meat from Hanner Ranch in Onaga and fresh Little Batch Bakery buns to make for a delicious combo! Don’t forget to grab something sweet from the pastry and coffee counter for later (who am I kidding? We’re eating it now!). Note that parking is very limited, but there is plenty of available parking over near City Park, which is only about a short 5-minute walk.

Powercat Sports Grill

Come watch your favorite sports game and eat a tasty wagyu burger at Powercat Sports Grill on the west side of town. There are eight burger options from a Jalapeño Popper Burger to a more classic option like a Bacon Cheeseburger. You can also build your own! They do have a pretty big kid’s menu, as well as gluten free options. Make sure to order the Willie’s Helmet Sampler, if you have Wildcat fans in your crew. Chips and two dips are served in a K-State helmet! How fun! After lunch, walk right next door and enjoy some time at The Midwest Dream Car Collection.

Rockin K’s

Located near the Bill Snyder Family Stadium, Rockin K’s burgers are a great choice when you are in an adventurous burger mood. I love the Kobe Tostada Burger. I’ve never had anything like it! There’s a crunchy tostada shell that is topped with a Wagyu Beef patty, peppers, onions, bacon, and a beer cheese sauce. It’s delicious. Just try it. My kids’ favorite menu item is probably the chocolate chip cookie bake. Just indulge that sweet tooth and order it! And make sure to order it as a double for everyone to share!

So Long Saloon

So Long Saloon has one of the most unusual burgers in town with their Peanut Butter Burger. Think peanut butter has no place on a burger? Not going to lie, I thought this at first too. But I promise it really is pretty good if you are brave enough to give the combo a try! And while you’re at it, try another not so typical combo with the chipotle raspberry and black bean dip. You’ll thank me later! Do note that there is limited seating, they are closed on Mondays, and it can get crowded, so do plan accordingly.

Spark’s Burger Co.

Locally sourced locally-owned fast food, Spark’s Burger Co. prides themselves with using meat, dairy, and eggs sourced within 100 miles of their location on the west side of Manhattan. They are known for having great burgers, sides, and sauces! Order the potato dippers and sparks sauce! Another fun wrinkle with Spark’s is that they offer Hildebrand Farm milkshakes, and trust me when I tell you that their milk makes for excellent ice cream. Have a K-State basketball fan in your crew? Order a Coach Tang milkshake. Other fun K-State inspired items include a Coach NickNacho burger or the Snyder Stacker. Consider exploring MHK Play Studio afterward to make for a fun lunch/play combo.

Tallgrass Tap House

Head downtown to Tallgrass Tap House to enjoy a good beer and burger! While they serve up a few super tasty burger options, I want to give a shout out to their Konza Prairie Veggie Burger. The wild rice-black bean walnut avocado patty is one of the best veggie burgers I’ve ever tasted! The kid’s menu has only four items (cheeseburger, chicken strips, hot dog, and mac and cheese) but it’s four items my crew will always eat! They also have a separate gluten-sensitive menu, so there are lots of options for everyone in your party. Make sure to order one of their craft beers, brewed on site.

Address: 320 Poyntz Ave Manhattan KS 66502

Tanner’s Bar and Grill

Check out Tanner’s in Aggieville and try one of their “boogas.” They have fun combos like a booga topped with KC BBQ, a mac and cheese booga, or this mama’s favorite, the Maui Waui Booga (Swiss cheese, bacon, and pineapple). Make sure to add on some sweet potato fries (my favorite!). My crew enjoys getting the sliders (they call them “little burgers”). Tanner’s does offer plenty of options beyond just burgers, so if you have a crew that wants some variety, this is a great choice.

Address: 1200 Moro St. Manhattan, KS  66502

Vista Drive In

Looking for a quick and easy burger option? Vista Drive In is located off Tuttle Creek Boulevard and has been serving up classic juicy drive-in style burgers and fries since 1964. You can’t really go wrong with any of the burger combos. Add on a hot fudge brownie sundae and some shakes for a special treat!

Address: 1911 Tuttle Creek Blvd, Manhattan, KS 66502

4th and Elm Bar and Grill

A Wamego favorite spot for a good burger is 4th & Elm Bar and Grill. They pride themselves on making delicious made to order pub food. With over 20 burger options, it may be hard to pick just one, but some of our favorites include the California Burger, the Blue Cheeseburger, and The All in One. Consider spending some time in Wamego and walking a few mins down the block to check out The Oz Museum afterward!
